My last holiday
  A Max
I went on holiday with my friends. The flight was fine, but it took two hours by bus to reach the hotel – I didn’t enjoy that! The hotel was noisy and the staff weren’t friendly, but it didn’t matter because we spent all our time on the beach, a short walk away. We tried lots of new dishes in the restaurants in the town. It was hard to sleep with such high temperatures, but we had a fantastic time, and the best thing was, we spent almost nothing once we arrived!
 B Felipe
The drive to our hotel from the airport was along lovely country roads. The hotel my wife and I stayed in was quite expensive. The people who worked there were wonderful, but I wasn’t so sure about the hotel restaurant – the desserts were fine, but the main courses weren’t very good. It was cloudy and rainy most days, but we went to walk in the countryside, not to lie on a beach.
 C Nikhil
My family and I drove across the USA last year. We stayed in lots of different hotels. I don’t know how much we spent because my parents paid. There was a lot of driving, but my dad enjoyed that. The weather was fantastic, and I couldn’t believe the differences in what people ate from place to place. It  was good to be with the family, because there was always someone to talk to, or to do things with.
1. Who was surprised about the variety of food on holiday?
 A Max            B Felipe      C Nikhil

2. Who thought that part of their journey was too long? D
    A Max     B Felipe        C Nikhil

3. Who liked travelling with a group of people?

 4. Who was happy with the cost of their holiday?
 A Max      B Felipe         C Nikhil

5. Who thought the hotel staff were good?
 A Max      B Felipe        C Nikhil

6. Who was unhappy with some of the food they ate?
A Max      B Felipe        C Nikhil

7. Who says that the weather was a problem at times?
A Max       B Felipe        C Nikhil

                                   THINGS TO SEE IN KYIV

Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is located on the scenic banks of the Dnipro River. There are a lot of parks, tree-lined broad and straight streets in our capital.
Kyiv is one of the oldest cities of Europe and it has many places of historic interest. Among them are famous churches, cathedrals and monasteries, because Kyiv is the ancestral home of Christianity in Kyivan Rus.
If you want to discover Kyiv, it is best to start with a tour on a sightseeing bus. Would you like to start your tour with visiting the imposing building of St. Volodymyr Cathedral? It was built in 1882 in a new Byzantic style by the architect Baretti. It is a traditionally Slavic six-column, three apse church crowned by seven cupolas. The height to the top of the cross on the main cupola is 48.9 m. The murals of the church interior are of considerable artistic significance. They were made in 1885—1896 by the famous Russian painters such as Nesterov, Vasnetsov, and Prakhov. The mosaics lining the cathedral's interior were made by Venitian masters.
A visit to St Sophia Cathedral may be the highlight of your stay in Kyiv. Kyivites say that if you do not see it while here, then you did not see Kyiv. The church was built in 1037 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise on the site of a battle-field to commemorate the victory over the Pechenegs (Asian nomadic tribes) and to glorify the wisdom of Christianity (Sophia in Greek means "wisdom").
The most visitors are impressed by the beauty of St Andrew's Church. This church stands elegantly outlined against Kyiv skyline. It was built in 1748 by the architect Rastrelli, who also built the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg and the Mariyinsky Palace in Kyiv. From its terraces the famous writer Gogol used to look down at the lower town of Podil. The winding brick street Andriyvski Uzviz leading up the hill to the church has a variety of interesting art galleries and shops. This is one of the best areas to find traditional Ukrainian crafts and arts.
Kyiv Pecherska Lavra Monastery is one of the most famous sites of Kyiv. "Lavra" is the term used by the Orthodox Church for its largest monastery. It was built in the eleventh century. The monks lived in caves under the monastery, which still can be visited. The famous monk Nestor wrote the chronicle "The Story of Begone Days" while living in this monastery. Lavra incorporates a number of old buildings, churches and museums. There is a lot to see there.
c) Your next task is to say if the sentences are true or false:

4.     Revise the grammar material Passive Voice Revision

  • His parents love him.
  • I did my homework yesterday.
  • He is loved by his parents.
  • My homework was done by me yesterday.

Future Continuous.

(Past Participle).
  • My lunch is eaten by my dog.
  • This mission was successfully completed.
  • The parcel will be delivered tomorrow morning.

  • This article is not written by Jane.
  • was not informed about this concert.
  • My project won’t have been finished till Monday.

  • Are you punished?
  • Has the job been already done? –
  • Will the parcel be delivered soon?
  • When will the package be brought? –
  • How often was the package brought? –
  • Until when will the package have been brought?
Passive Voice

Passive Voice
  • was robbed three weeks ago.
  • The tea is grown in India. –
  • My meal has just been prepared at the restaurant. –
  • am punished by my teacher.
  • The window was broken by Jack.
  • The article will be written by us.

  • 80-year-old man was robbed near his apartment door yesterday. –
  • A new school will have been opened by the beginning of this school year.

  • The window was broken. –
  • The article has been written awfully. –
  • She is not mentioned at this list. –

  • My friends believe that John crashed the car. –
  • It’s believed that John crashed the car. –
  • John is believed to have crashed the car.
  • My mother expects that I will pass the exam. –
  • It is expected that I will pass the exam.
  • I am expected to pass the exam. –
Пасивний стан часто використовується з дієсловами, що потребують після себе використання прийменниківto speak to (говорити з), to talk toof, about (розмовляти з, про), to look atafter (дивитися на, за), to laugh at (сміятися з, над), to send for (посилати за), to listen to (слухати), to rely (upon (покладатися, довіряти) тощо.
  • The professor is listened to attentively.
  • This journal is being talked about now.
  • Matt was laughed at when he was small.
